Description

These registers were maintained by the Office of Land Revenue Records and Enrolments as a record of the receipt of documents sent for enrolment.

Arrangement

The entries are in chronological order of receipt of the deeds in the Office of Land Revenue Records and Enrolments. From 1896, the annual registration numbers of the deeds are given.

Administrative/ biographical background

The Office of Land Revenue Records and Enrolments maintained this series of registers solely as a matter of administrative convenience. Until 1852, these were the only registers of enrolments, but in that year registration of deeds enrolled by deposit was made compulsory under statute 15 & 16 Vict, c62.
