Administrative/ biographical background | Early in 1943 the Commodity Divisions of the Ministry of Food responsible for the procurement, distribution and processing of cereals and cereal products were brought together and formed into a self contained group. During the succeeding years there were various regroupings due to changing circumstances, but essentially the basic structure of the group was retained. To provide the machinery for the general administration of the Group Cereals (Central) Division was created. Its functions included the general policy and administrative work; and, in conjunction with the relevant divisions, was concerned with the negotiation of long and short term contracts and agreements. It also maintained the necessary liaison with other departments and bodies at home and overseas on matters relating to cereals and cereal products. |
