| Description | Folios 307-315. Letter from George Spencer, Clerk to the Guardians of the Keighley Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board, informing the Board that due to continued depression there are many able bodied person only partially employed, with the guardians having no means of finding employment for them, and, therefore, providing them with relief. Pages from a relief order book giving the names of all those receiving relief in Haworth during the quarter ending 21 March 1854. In all cases relief was required due to want of work. Annotated: note by H B Farnall [Harry Bernard Farnall, Poor Law Inspector] that list contains 135 names, with total number of persons constituting these cases 739. 105 cases are partially employed, 30 with no work. The lists are imperfect, with some omissions and no time given for duration of relief. Relief to be sanctioned, with guardians requested to find employment for paupers wholly out of work.
