Description Folios 694-696. Letter from George Spencer, Clerk to the Guardians of the Keighley Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board, acknowledging their letter of 15 May, 17970/1855, regarding the hiring of land on Harden Common for the employment of able bodied paupers. He encloses for approval the appointment form for Joseph Stell as Superintendant of Labour. The form shows Stell now of Cross Roads, Keighley, had been a 'Delver' and lately time keeper in a railway. The salary to be 16s per week. The post became vacant after the resignation of Aaron Bailey whose services were no longer required. Paper Number: 20714/1855. Poor Law Union Number 571. Counties: Yorkshire West Riding.
