Description | Folios 821-823. Letter from George Spencer, Clerk to the Guardians of the Keighley Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board. In reply to their letter of 27 November he encloses for approval the appointment form for William Ramsbottom as Relieving Officer. The form shows Ramsbottom, of Lees, near Bingley, had been a schoolmaster. The salary to be £70 per annum. His sureties are William Turner, Haworth, and Thomas Normington, Lees. He is responsible for the Bingley District, comprising of Bingley and Morton. The post became vacant after the resignation of Edward Sutcliffe, caused by the 'embarrassed state of his accounts and affairs'. Annotated: the former papers were sent to Mr Farnall [H B Farnall, Poor Law Inspector]. No objection. Sanction. Paper Number: 45092/1855. Poor Law Union Number 571. Counties: Yorkshire West Riding. |
