Description | Folio 2. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to Charles Bond, Clerk to the Guardians of the Axminster Poor Law Union, replying to letter of 22 January regarding the procurement of nurses. The Poor Law does not permit the procurement of nurses by the medical officer without referring the matter first to relieving officer. However we would have no objections to this action in an emergency provided this was reported to the next meeting of the governors, together with information on the wages paid. Paper Number: 895/A/1845. Poor Law Union Number 76. Counties: Devon and Dorset. |
