Description	Folios 204-206. Letter from John T Graves [Assistant Poor Law Commissioner], Hotwell, Bristol to Assistant Secretary, Poor Law Commission requesting immediate advice regarding statement received by Graves from Emanuel Wills, Overseer, Axminster Poor Law Union dated 16 May 1846 and enclosed. Graves requests that answer is sent direct to Wills. Wills' statement states that on 24 April 1846, Mr John Bradford was elected as Assistant Overseer. After objections raised and overcome regarding Bradford's sureties the Magistrates signed the appointment on 29 April 1846. In accordance with letter received from the board of guardians to collect £420 by 27 May 1846 Bradford was instructed to make a rate for the jury. The rate was signed by Wills on 11 May 1846 but other Overseers have refused to sign in spite of Bradford's sureties being guarantee by Wills and Letters of Landed Property to the value of £1000 being placed with Major Still of Axminster when security requested was only £500.
