Description | Folio 351. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to Charles Bond, Clerk to the Guardians of the Axminster Poor Law Union, regarding the letting of parish property, namely the premises formerly used as the poor house in Lyme Regis. They state that letting the property to Mr Osborne without creating a lease is irregular and illegal. 5& 6 Wm 4 c69 s83 imposed on the guardians of the union and not the overseers the duty of letting as well as sale of parish property and they should take steps to execute a proper lease in this case. If Osborne is willing to enter into the proper lease the commissioners will take the proper steps. Paper Number: 8691/A/1846. Poor Law Union Number 76. Counties: Devon and Dorset. |
