Report of visit by W Mylne from the Commissioner of Lunacy, to the Berwick-upon-Tweed Union Workhouse on 11 September 1849, reporting general satisfaction with conditions and reporting that there have been no cases of cholera since December 1848. There were 12 inmates seven males and five females, they were: George Drummond. William Thompkins. John Todd. George Davidson. George Fram. Edward Young. Thomas Healey. Alice Brown. Margery Crystal. Eleanor Hunter. Alice Hay. Ann Marshall. Two inmates, William Thompkins and John Todd, are deemed violent and dangerous, and are to be removed to the Lunatic Asylum at Bensham. Annotated: enquire if William Thompkins and John Todd have been removed to a lunatic asylum, and ask for a certificate from the medical officer as to the mental condition of Ann Marshall.
