Description | Folio 165. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to the Reverend Thomas Bryan Johnstone, The Rectory, Clutton Old Down. In reference to his letter of the 12 July 1839 they deem that being a member of the Clutton POoor Law Union board of guardians disqualifies him from being a paid official of the union although he is not ineligible in law. The office of chaplain confers no right to a seat on the board, nor can the chaplain exercise a vote in the proceedings. Paper Number: 5481/C/1839. Poor Law Union Number 325.
