Description | Folios 171-172. Letter from J and W Rees Mogg [John Rees Mogg and William Rees Mogg], Clerks to the Guardians of the Clutton Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, regarding the Compton Martin survey. On 21 August 1838 the Commissioners authorised a survey plan and valuation on the scale of three chains to the inch. Before issue of this order a plan had been made of several hundred acres at the scale of four chains to the inch. The surveyor then employed is willing to survey the whole parish at a much lower charge than any other, having surveyed so much already at the 4 chain scale. The guardians wish to be informed if there is any objection to substituting four chains scale for three chains. Annotations: ask Captain Dawson's opinion, 20 August 1839. Paper Number: 5796/B/1839. Poor Law Union Number 325. Counties: Town and County of Berwick-upon-Tweed and Northumberland. |
