Description | Folios 227-228. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to J and W Rees Mogg [John William Rees Mogg and William Rees Mogg], Clerks to the Guardians of the Clutton Poor Law Union, in reference to application for Bastardy orders/2& 3 Vic s 85. They state that the guardians need not apply in person but may appoint someone to apply on their behalf, the clerk of the union being most suitable. Application being to the petty sessions. Notice to the putative father need not have the common seal affixed but should be signed by a majority of guardians present at a meeting of the board including the chairman. Paper Number: 7803/B/1839. Poor Law Union Number 325. Counties: Town and County of Berwick-upon-Tweed and Northumberland. |
