Description | Folios 85-86. Letter from Samuel King, Clerk to the Guardians of the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union, to Edwin Chadwick, Secretary to the Poor Law Commission, requesting their opinion. On 9 June 1836 five medical officers were appointed for the union at overall salaries of £100 per annum, but no date was set for an end to the contract. Can they now impose an end date and reduce the salaries according to the work done by the medical officers? Annotated: Dr Kay [J P Kay, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner], for his opinion.
