Description | Folios 175-176. Letter from Edwin Chadwick, Secretary yo the Poor Law Commission, to Samuel King, Clerk of the Guardians of the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union, acknowledging letters of 4 and 18 July and the form of application to the Exchequer for an advance for a loan of £4,800 for the enlarging and altering of Gressenhall Workhouse. When signed, return this to the Commission and they will forward the application form to the Exchequer Board Bill Loan. He cannot tell them when they will receive an advance, but it should be no loner than a fortnight. Repayment of the loan can be no longer than ten years, but it could be extended after the payment has been made. Any parish wishing to pay their quota before this may do so.
