Description Folios 221-226. Letter from Samuel King, Clerk to the Guardians of the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union, to Edwin Chadwick, Secretary to the Poor Law Commission, enclosing resolutions passed by the guardians concerning alterations concerning relieving officers and medical districts. 1. The guardians consider that the administration of relief can be performed by four relieving officers. 2. The union to be divided up as follows: Hockering District: Hockering. East Tuddenham. Mattishall. Garvestone. Thruxton. Hardingham. Reymerston. South Berg. Woodrising. Cranworth. Letton. Shipdham. Whinburgh. Mattishall Bergh. North Tuddenham. Elmham District: Elmham. Elsing. Lyng. Sparham. Bawdeswell. Foxley. Bintree. Twyford. Guist. Gateley. Oxwick. Colkirk. Whissonsett. Horningtoft. Brisley. Beetley. Worthing. Billingford. Bylaugh. Litcham District: Great Fransham. Little Fransham. Great Dunham. Little Dunham. Wendling. East Lexham. West Lexham. Rougham. Weasenham all Saints. Weasenham Saint Peter Wellingham. Tittleshall. Stanfield. Mileham. Bilney. Longham. Beeston. Kempstone. Litcham. Dereham District: Dereham. Westfield. Yaxham. Scarning. Gressenhall. Hoe. Swanton. 3. Relieving officers to devote all their time to the business of their office and to reside within their district. 4. Medical relief in the districts are 'highly inconvenient and unsatisfactory.' 5. To divide the union into smaller districts for the purpose of medical relief. 6. Divide the union into medical districts as follow: 1st District: Hockering. East Tuddenham. North Tuddenham. Mattishall Berg. Mattishall. Elsing. Lyng. Garvestone. Thruxton. Hardingham. 2nd District: South berg. Woodrising. Cranworth. Letton. Shipdham. Westfield. Whinburgh. Reymerston. 3rd District: East Dereham. Yaxham. 4th District: Sparham. Bylaugh. Bawdeswell. Foxley. Billingford. Twyford. Bintree. Guist. Gateley. Elmham. Worthing. Brisley. 5th District: Litcham. East Lexham. West Lexham. Rougham. Weasenham Saint Peter Weasenham all Saints. Wellingham. Tittleshall. Horningtoft. Mileham. Stanfield. Whissonsett. Colkirk. Oxwick. 6th District: Great Fransham. Little Fransham. Great Dunham. Little Dunham. Longham. Beeston. Kempstone. 7th District: Scarning. Wendling. East Bilney. Gressenhall and workhouse. Beetley. Hoe. Swanton Morley. A committee is to be formed for the purpose of making such changes namely: Reverend E J Howman; J D H Hill; Reverend P Gurdon; Mr Francis; Mr Salter; Mr Carter and Mr Grounds. A further application concerns the appointment of a surgeon resident at Hingham to the parish of Hardingham and another at Fakenham to the parish of Colkirk.
