Description	Folios 365-366. Letter from the Reverend Henry Edward Knatchbull, vicar of North Elmham, to the Poor Law Commission, referring to their letter dated 25 August, [7893/A/1838] which was in answer to his dated 21 July in which he complained of the conduct of a relieving officer and of the board of guardians of Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union not affording him any redress. He says that a month has now elapsed and he cannot ascertain that the promised enquiry by their assistant commissioner has been instigated into the wanton falsehoods which he believes have been propagated by the relieving officer in his parish. He presses this matter on their attention and trusts that they will take such steps as they think proper. Annotated: the Commissioners had been informed that the guardians had twice written to Mr Knatchbull requesting proof of the alleged misconduct and this has not been furnished so they have not deemed it necessary to direct their assistant commissioner to take any further steps at present.
