Description Folio 131. Letter from William Ashton, Clerk to the Guardians of the Basford Poor Law Union, to Edwin Chadwick, [Secretary to the Poor Law Commission], reporting on the meeting of the Guardians at the Basford workhouse. Thomas Nixon, Chairman. Present; Guardians of Basford, Arnold, Lambley, Carlton, Gedling, Bunny, Stoke, Burton, Ilkeston [Derbyshire], Greasley, Selstone [Selston], Thrumpton and Calverton. Motions were proposed by the following: Nixon, Mr Farrand and seconded by Farrand and Mr Wright respectively for the following resolutions. Alteration to the dietary involving suet, bread and cheese for the paupers. The Registration Act taken into consideration. Relieving Officers books examined. Provisions ordered as per the order check [cheque] book. Annotated: Mr Nicholls, [George Nicholls, Commissioner]. Annotated: Dietary ordered 3 October 1836.
