Description | Folio 158. Letter from Poor Law Commission to Mark Milnes, Assistant Overseer, Basford acknowledging his letter and enclosed order from Christopher Swain, a Coroner for Nottinghamshire regarding payment to William Watts, [Surgeon of Nottingham] as medical witness at inquest on William Renshaw. The overseers cannot refuse to pay the fee to the medical witness, the payment of which has been ordered by the Coroner. By the Act of last Sessions, 6& 7 William 4 c 89 the Coroner is empowered to order the payment enumeration to a Medical [Practitioner] for his attendance at an Inquest out of the Poor Rate, according to a table of fees prescribed by the Act. Also in the letter is the return the Coroners order. [Not enclosed]. Paper Number: 3947/C/1836. Poor Law Union Number 334. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. |
