Description | Folio 290. Letter from William Ashton, [Clerk to the Guardians of the Basford Poor Law Union], to the Poor Law Commission. He informs them that at an extraordinary meeting of the Basford guardians held on 16 June 1837, Mr Wright Allen was appointed as medical officer to the 5th district of the Basford Poor Law Union at a salary of £50 per annum, and Mr William Billings of Sneinton near Nottingham was appointed to the 6th district at a salary of £30 per annum. Annotated: To be approved and confirmed. Also the clerk has not reported the new contract for the workhouse at an advance of £7, but the total advance for all the medical districts is so small (less than £15) that it will be best to accede and sanction.
