| Description | Folio 357. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to William Ashton, Clerk to the Guardians of the Basford Poor Law Union. They acknowledge receipt of Ashton's letter of 26 October 1837, and they sanction, temporarily, the appointment of Joseph Saunders as Collector of the Poor Rates for the parish of Basford at a payment of £20 per annum.
