Description | Folio 381. List, addressed to E Gulson [Edward Gulson, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner], written at Basford House. The following able bodied men have been ordered relief in bread in consequence of their being out of employment for fourteen days. In District Number 1, Enoch Matthews of Greasley, FWK [Framework Knitter], and his wife who seams [stocking seamer], who both have no work. Their children are Selina Matthews and Noah Matthews. James Smith is Relieving Officer for this district. In District Number 3, Henry Spray of Beeston, FWK [Framework Knitter] partly employed, his wife who seams, and four children aged under 10 years. Also Thomas Stanford of Carlton, FWK [Framework Knitter] and his wife who seams, both having no work and having two children. Also Thomas Foster of Gedling, labourer, and his wife who seams, both have no work, and they have two children. Also Richard Street of Ruddington, FWK [Framework Knitter] and his wife who seams, both having no work, and they have 3 children. George Winfield is the Relieving Officer for District 3.
