Description	Folios 60-61. Letter from John Potter, Clerk to the Magistrates for the Hundred of Blything, Yoxford, to the Poor Law Commission, asking for a decision to be made on the following case in connection with the 57th Clause of the New Poor Act which has occurred in one of the parishes in his district: A women living in the parish of 'A' about three years ago had a bastard child by 'B' upon whom Order of Bastardy was made. Under this order 'B' paid the weekly sum agreed for maintenance of the child for about six months when he absconded to America and the bastard child consequently became a burden to the parish by 'A'. The woman has married since the passing of the late Poor Act. He asks whether the husband of the woman is liable to maintain the child as part of his family, or whether the parish of 'A' liable?
