Description | Folio 116. Letter from R M Hodge [Richard Michell Hodge], Clerk to the Guardians of the Truro Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, relating to the appointment of a new Collector of Poor Rates for the parish of Kenwyn. Among the candidates is a person who has become bankrupt but who has obtained his certificate. He asks if bankruptcy would disqualify this person from holding the office. Annotated: state that it is not a legal disqualification for holding the office but the Commissioners will not undertake to say whether he is fit until the particulars are before them. Paper Number: 17389/A/1847. Poor Law Union Number 57. Counties: Cornwall. |
