Description | Folios 1-5B. Letter from John D Taylor [John Dobede Taylor], Clerk to the Guardians of the Bishops Stortford Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board, enclosing appointment forms for George Thomas Tarrant and his wife, Frances Ann Tarrant as Porter and Porteress of the workhouse. The form for George Thomas Tarrant shows he was lately superintendent of pauper labour at St Pancras Workhouse, aged 32, married but with no family, to start on 20 Dec 1849 at a salary of £20 per annum plus rations. The form for Frances Ann Tarrant shows she was the superintendent nurse at St Pancras Workhouse, aged 28, married with no family, to start on 20 Dec 1849 at a salary of £10 per annum plus rations.
