Description | Folio 165. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board, to John D Taylor, Clerk to the Guardians of the Bishop's Stortford Poor Law Union, acknowledging receipt of a letter, dated 28 November 1850, requesting sanction of an alteration to the bedtime of 1st division able bodied inmates of the workhouse from 8pm to 7pm during the winter months. The Poor Law Board wish to know the grounds for deviating from the hours adopted in other unions, and whether the alteration will apply to all able bodied inmates, before giving the request of the guardians their fullest consideration.
