| Description | Folios 12-14. Letter from Henry Saunders, Clerk to the Guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, regarding 'Kidderminster Medical District division of'. He forwards a copy of the report on the subject and a copy of the Board's resolutions. He feels an early response is needed. Copy of Kidderminster Poor Law Union Board minutes 14 February 1843. The report on the division of Kidderminster medical district was read. Moved by John Brown and seconded by Henry Talbot. That there should be no subdivision because the Board are perfectly satisfied with the current medical officer, the population is condensed and little exceeds the number fixed by the Commission. Amendment moved by Mr Beddoes and seconded by Mr Roberts. That Kidderminster Medical District be divided. The voting was equal; the chairman gave his casting vote against the amendment. The original motion was carried with eight votes for and seven votes against. Copy of the Report on the Kidderminster Medical District delivered to the Board on 14 February 1843. A majority of the committee recommended that there are two modes of division. Plan 1: District 1 Kidderminster Borough District 2 The present portion of Kidderminster Foreign and the workhouse Plan 2: District 1 The south ward of the Borough and the workhouse. 7,620. District 2 The north ward of the Borough and part of the Foreign now included in the district. 9,116. They proposed separate divisions of the £110 salary for each plan. Annotated: the Commissioners would prefer the division into two districts plan 2 [illegible]. Further Annotated: 17 February 1843 A Power [Alfred Power, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner]. He believes that the chairman cannot give a casting vote under article 13 of 'Proceedings order'. He thinks the Commissioners will prefer resolution No 2 because it is conformable with the order.
