Description | Folio 149. Letter from W Crowther, late Overseer, to the Poor Law Commission, regarding the guardian for Stone. He elaborates on the way the job was advertised and what was expected of the guardian. He says that the establishment expenses are more than the poor relief, and that although it seemed a good idea he was having nothing more to do with it. He would maintain the paupers in his parish [Stone] at two thirds of the present cost. Annotated: acknowledge only, 24 April 1844. Paper Number: 5466/B/1844. Also 4308/B/1844.
