Description | Folio 160. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to Henry Saunders, Clerk to the Guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union, regarding the emigration of a soldier's widow to the United States [United States of America]. They state that they cannot support the application of Lucy Webb (widow of Sergeant Webb late of the 24th Regiment) and her five children nor can they sanction the use of money from the poor rates. They suggest that aid may be received by contacting Sir Henry Hardinge (the Secretary at War) at the War Office. Paper Number: 5980/B/1844. Poor Law Union Number 530. Counties: Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Shropshire. |
