Description | Folios 210-211. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to Henry Saunders, Clerk to the Guardians of Kidderminster Poor Law Union, with reference to the case of Edward Jackson, Medical Officer of Chaddesley Corbett. The facts concerning Samuel Rubbery, are stated and there is agreement that the guardians are correct in their view of Jackson's conduct. Recommendations should be given in such a manner 'as to produce full confidence in the judgement of the Medical Officer', and if there is too long an interval between the visit and the giving of an order, as in this case, the guardians can have no such confidence. The medical officer is to be informed that he should be more cautious in the future. Paper Number: 9124/B/1844. Poor Law Union Number 530. Counties: Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Shropshire. |
