Description | Folio 451. Letter from Henry Saunders, Clerk to the Guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, regarding appointment of collector for the parish of Dowles [Shropshire]. He refers to their letter of 22 June 1846. The amount of rates collected in Dowles is £120 per annum and there is no overseer. The guardians cannot appoint a collector under the order of 6 December 1836 because it only gave authority for a month or upon the death, resignation or removal of the appointed collector. They seek the appointment because the affairs of the parish have been poorly managed recently. Annotated: explain that the guardians can appoint under the order in force. Send a form. 24 June 1846.
