Description Folio 451. Letter from Henry Saunders, Clerk to the Guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, regarding appointment of collector for the parish of Dowles [Shropshire]. He refers to their letter of 22 June 1846. The amount of rates collected in Dowles is £120 per annum and there is no overseer. The guardians cannot appoint a collector under the order of 6 December 1836 because it only gave authority for a month or upon the death, resignation or removal of the appointed collector. They seek the appointment because the affairs of the parish have been poorly managed recently. Annotated: explain that the guardians can appoint under the order in force. Send a form. 24 June 1846.
