Description	Folios 549-551. Letter from Henry Saunders, Clerk to the Guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, regarding the contract for bread. He forwards a resolution from the board regarding the memorial sent by other bakers complaining that the contract for the supply of bread to the workhouse was awarded to John Smith who is charging more than they are. Resolution of the board dated 22 December 1846, moved by Mr Brinton [Henry Brinton] and seconded by the Reverend R P Turner [Reginald Pindar Turner] and carried unanimously; that the guardians gave more than usual attention to the tenders they received and accepted Mr Smith's believing it to be in the interest of the union to do so. Annotated: the guardians do not deny the accusation but it is at their discretion to award the contract for bread. J T G [John Thomas Graves, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner] intends to visit Kidderminster shortly and will enquire into the special reasons for the decision.
