Description | Folios 207-209. Letter from Harry White, Clerk to the Guardians of the Blything Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission requesting information and approval in two cases: 1. A labourer from Thorington by the name of Rawleston, in receipt of 10s per week for his wife and seven children owing to his wife's confinement was allowed 3 stones of flour. 2. A labourer from Halesworth by the name of Gilbert, aged 29 years, in receipt of 10s per week for his wife and five children was allowed 2 stones of flour. Annotated: the guardians are justified in allowing payments of flour. The Commissioners are unable to judge the circumstances of these cases from the limited information provided.
