Description | Folios 259-261. Letter from Dr Kay [James Phillips Kay, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner] at Cromer, [Norfolk], to the Poor Law Commission, forwarding enclosures relating to affairs of the Poor Law Commission. 1. Report of the trial of Mr Bailey, Relieving Officer, Sudbury Poor Law Union. 2. Charges in committee against the Stow Poor Law Union. 3. Burial fees of paupers in the Blything Poor Law Union. 4. Quantity abstracts - Freebridge Lynn Poor Law Union, parish supplied. Only one of these is present [no 3]. Letter from Dr Kay [James Phillips Kay, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner] at Cromer, [Norfolk], to the Poor Law Commission, stating that he does not feel competent to enter into the legal questions raised in Stephen Clissold's remarks on their letter to Mr Storry. Whether the law allows the payment of fees for pauper burials or not, the [Blything Poor Law Union], guardians should not be driven into conflict with clergy.
