Description Folios 100-102. Letter from Charles Hart, Secretary to the Liverpool Select Vestry to the Poor Law Board. He acknowledges receipt of their letter of 22 March 1851 and encloses for approval the appointment form for James Edward Donlevy as Medical Officer for Number 1 District. The form shows Donlevy of 2 Merton Street, Liverpool, had been a Superintendent for the Liverpool Cholera Hospital in 1849. The salary to be £140 per annum with vaccination but no other fees. The post became vacant after Mr Walton, previous medical officer, left for America. Annotated: [H B Farnall, Inspector, Poor Law Board]. 25 March 1851. He sees no objection to this appointment. He presumes he has the same population to attend as his predecessor but has no means of knowing whether the population exceeds the effectiveness of one medical officer.
