Description | Folio 484. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board to T Watkins, Clerk to the Guardians of the Cardiff Poor Law Union, they acknowledge receipt of his letter of 29 April regarding the suspension of William Lewis, Collector for Whitchurch. The Board will advise Lewis to perform his duties promptly and satisfactorily and observe the lawful and reasonable orders of the guardians. They do not however consider that he is clearly incompetent or unfit for office. The Board have written admonishing Lewis but before taking further steps they will wait for the results of the audit of his accounts. In the meantime they request the guardians remove the suspension.
