Description | Folio 360. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to [J Bruce Campbell] of Nottingham, acknowledging receipt of Campbell's letter of the 24 April. The Commission say they will make enquiries into the case of John Henson of Heanor to which he has drawn their attention. They also point out that the governors of the Basford Poor Law Union in which Henson appears to reside are responsible for his relief and not, as Campbell seems to think, the governors of the Derby Poor Law Union. Also: draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to Mr William Ashton, Clerk to the Guardians of the Basford Poor Law Union, forwarding a letter which they received from [Mr J Bruce Campbell] regarding the case of John Henson of Heanor. The Commission point out that although Henson might belong to the parish of the Derby Poor Law Union, the governor's of the Basford Poor Law Union are still primarily responsible for his relief as he resides in that union. They ask for the facts of the case and the view that the governor's have of it. Poor Law Union Number 334. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. |
