Description | Folio 401. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to William Ashton, Clerk to the Guardians of the Basford Poor Law Union. They enclose a draft copy of a letter they have addressed to Robert Martin, Beeston, acknowledging his letter of 5 May regarding the payment of expenses incurred in trying to apprehend a pauper who absconded from the Basford Poor Law Union Workhouse with some of the property of the union. The expense of prosecuting a pauper who absconds with workhouse clothes, other goods or things should be debited to the establishment. Paper Number: 5543/B/1841. Poor Law Union Number 334.
