Description | Folios 731-732. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to William Ashton, Bulwell, Clerk to the Guardians of the Basford Poor Law Union. The Commissioners note that the overseers were proceeded against under section 95 for disobedience of orders of the guardians having failed to pay over the sums demanded under precept but that the magistrates decided that if convicted the act did not provide for remedy. The Commissioners think there was disobedience but that express provision for recovery is made. Section 99 enacts that penalties and forfeitures are to be levied by distress and sale of goods and chattels of the offender. Paper Number: 13251/B/1841. Poor Law Union Number 334.
