Description | Folio 217. Letter from Thomas Watkins, Clerk to the Guardians of the Cardiff Poor Law Union, to Poor Law Commission, replying to their letter of the 9 October 1844 requiring a copy of the contract for the new valuation of Cardiff. He states that no contract was entered into by the guardians and the valuers, but an agreement for the valuation was made by the overseers of the parishes of St John and St Mary in virtue of which one of the gentlemen employed is to receive £25 and the other who is the county surveyor is to receive £2 2s per day for the time he is occupied. Annotated: request that the valuation may be forwarded for the inspection of the Commission. 17 October 1844. Paper Number: 16868/B/1844. Poor Law Union Number 613.
