Description | Folio 264. Draft Letter from the Poor Law Commission to Thomas Watkins, Clerk to the Guardians of the Cardiff Poor Law Union, acknowledging their letter of the 24 January 1845. Regarding the system of medical relief in the Cardiff Poor Law Union - the board of guardians have not thought it necessary to comply with the regulations 16, 17 and 18 of the General Medical Order; and that the medical officers are paid by salary and not per case. The Commissioners make the point that the object is that medical relief is obtained by permanent paupers without having to obtain an order for every visit of the medical officer. The Commissioners request that the board of guardians will bring these regulations into effect as soon as possible and the total number of permanent paupers listed and forwarded to them. Paper Number: 1197/B/1845. Poor Law Union Number 613. Counties: Glamorganshire and Monmouthshire. |
