Description	Folio 43. Letter from the Reverend G A Jacob, to the Poor Law Commission, writing on behalf of Maria Copeland, a ratepayer in the parish in his employ. A voting paper was left at her house and as she could not write an inhabitant of the parish, Henry Prosser, filled the paper in, forging her mark and signing his name as witness. Without her authority or knowledge he had initialled opposite persons who were not her preferred candidates. The woman's name is spelt incorrectly and so the vote will probably be void but this forgery has deprived her of her rights. This practice has been carried out throughout the parish. He asks if Prosser can be punished? Only one example has been sent but others can be proved if required. Paper Number: 2415/C/1839. Poor Law Union Number 526.
