Description | Folio 105. Letter from George Coode, Assistant Secretary to the Poor Law Commission, to Thomas Day, Clerk to the Guardians of the Bromsgrove Poor Law Union, stating that the question whether parish cottages are vested in the board of guardians or in the parish officers is now before the Court of Queens Bench so they are unwilling to express an opinion. It is probable that proceedings taken under the act of 5& 6 Wm IV c 69 will have the desired effect and that course is recommended unless the property is of sufficient value to render it advisable to bring an action of ejection against the parties. In the event of summary proceedings the Guardians should give requisite notice to the occupiers in their corporate capacity affixing the corporate seal. The complaint may be made by the clerk. If it is decided to bring an act of ejectment then the title of both board of guardians and the parish officers should ensure success. Paper Number: 5247/C/1839. Poor Law Union Number 526. Counties: Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire. |
