Description | Folio 111. Letter from Poor Law Commission, to Benjamin Maund, regretting that they cannot assist in recovering any monies owed by Bromsgrove parish as the present vestry or parish officers cannot pay an account which has run on for seven years and where the last item is dated three years ago. Also the account contains certain items which cannot be legally charged against the parish. They see no reason why Maund could not have a claim on any books supplied by him provided they are still in existence. Or, if he could make out a demand to any particular individual, then there would be no reason in law to prevent him making a demand. The Commission regrets the loss that he is likely to incur but feel he is partly to blame for allowing the situation to carry on for such a length of time. The bills are returned [not included]. Paper Number: 4605/B/1839. Poor Law Union Number 526. Counties: Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire. |
