| Description | Folio 193. Letter from Thomas Day, Clerk to the Guardians of the Bromsgrove Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, stating that their reply to his earlier letter does not answer the question whether an illegitimate child reverts to its birth settlement after the age of 15 and whether its settlement will be in the union workhouse where it resides or in the mother at that time belonged to another parish. The only enact bearing on this is 54 Geo III c 17 s 3 and if not repealed this may answer the question Annotated: question is answered. Illegitimate children borne since August 1824 have the same settlement as legitimate children born in the workhouse. Paper Number: 1553/B/1840. Poor Law Union Number 526.
