Description | Folios 409-410. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to the Overseers of Bentley Pauncefoot, Bromsgrove headed 'Accounts of Bentley Pauncefoot Parish'. They understand that the auditor of the Bromsgrove Poor Law Union is unable to complete the audit of accounts as they have failed to comply with the requirements to prepare and submit accounts. Attention is drawn to the requirements of statute. Failure to comply will render them liable to penalties which are cumulative, the third and every subsequent offence subjecting the offender to fine and imprisonment. Whilst reluctant to have recourse to compulsory measures unless the accounts are made up and presented in the proper form the auditor will be instructed to proceed for penalties. The Commissioners require to know why the reasons for the action in order that they might remove any doubts. Paper Number: 12152/B/1840. Poor Law Union Number 526. Counties: Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire. |
