Description | Folios 431-432. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to A Power [Alfred Power], Assistant Poor Law Commissioner, headed 'Average of Bentley Pauncefoot'. They acknowledge the objections which he fears will be raised to the basis of the calculation of the average and his desire to be more fully possessed of the view of the Board. The Commission has given its opinion and it is desirable that he adopt the opinion of Sir Edmund Head [Assistant Poor Law Commissioner]. The principle is outlined in six steps. There is expenditure of £1,117 for the three townships of Bentley Pauncefoot, Redditch and Webheath. The sum levied by the rate covered the expenditure and is thus the basis for calculation of the contribution of Bentley Pauncefoot. Paper Number: 13363/B/1840. Poor Law Union Number 526. Counties: Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire. |
