Description | Folio 350. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to William Powell, Clerk to the Guardians of the Newport Pagnell Poor Law Union, referring to his letter of 16 March stating that the Commission consents to the adoption of the dietary selected by the guardians but they are uncertain about some of the quantities intended. Is it intended that women should have 1lb of cooked potato and men should have 1/2lb on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday each week or only on Sunday? The dietary table as altered by the guardians is returned for them to make a satisfactory reply and the Commission will make an order to be prepared and forwarded to them without delay.
