Description | Folios 503-505. Letter from John D Taylor [John Dobede Taylor], Clerk to the Guardians of the Bishops Stortford Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board enclosing an application for a fresh valuation for the parish of Birchanger [Essex]. The valuation was made some years ago and the present ratepayers are dissatisfied and request a new valuation. The guardians assent to the request. A new map is not required. Enclosed is an application from the churchwardens and overseers of the parish of Birchanger requesting a new valuation in order to levy the rates for the relief of the poor under the terms of the Parochial Assessment Act. Annotated: survey and valuation order dated 30 January and sent 2 February 1849. [Folio 503 is a year guard.] Paper Number: 1757/1849. Poor Law Union Number 167. Counties: Hertfordshire and Essex. |
