Selection and destruction information | This series was regarded for a number of years as forming one of the Special Collections. It was re-arranged (and the present revised list prepared) in the Autumn of 1928, and it was then removed from the Special Collections department and transferred to the Public Record Office department in December of that year. Since 1962 the series has been reviewed with a view to the transfer of documents worthy of preservation as specimens to appropriate departmental series and the destruction of the residue. This process is still in progress. In a number of cases specimen records will be found in a '900' series in the appropriate record group, e.g. ADM 900 |
