Description | Entry books of reports made to the Treasury by the Treasury Solicitor, 1806 to 1860, and of press-copy books of similar reports and letters from 1899 to 1919. The latter volumes include material of the Treasury Solicitor in his capacity as HM Procurator General, and letters to various other departments with the principal exception of the Admiralty, Home Office (until 1917), War Office and Office of Works. The books record a wide range of legal business, touching upon such matters as bills of costs, claims for compensation, intestates' estates, including estates of deceased British subjects living abroad, land purchase, treasure trove, etc. Each volume is indexed. |
